BALLET
Ballet is for pure pleasure and for the more serious-minded. This classical style of expressive movement has something to offer for everyone of all ages and both sexes. Ballet dates back to the 15th Century and the original focus on conventional steps, grace and fluidity of movement are still vital in ballet today. Choreographers of ballet have been influenced and inspired by composers throughout the ages; Ballet as a technique is the foundation of all dance.
Ballet as an academic dance form is best known for its unique features and techniques: pointe work, turn-out of the legs, and high extensions along with its graceful, flowing precise movement and its ethereal qualities.
Although Italy began the ballet tradition, it was the French that cemented it and helped spread the power of the ballet theatre throughout the world. Incorporating some important aspects of Italian ballet. French ballet went on to gain prominence in France and to this day, the majority of ballet vocabulary originates from French.
While France and Italy were instrumental in early ballet, other countries and cultures soon adopted the art form and further developed it's aesthetic. The most notable of these inspired cultures was Russia, and Russian ballet has had great importance in it's country that now has a vital and well recognized tradition of ballet achievements.
The Starflower Ballet classes will comprise of set exercises at the bar. An adage section is followed by allegro amalgamations which will focus on a knowledge of glossaries in French vocabulary. Classes will follow the IDTA (International Dance Teacher's Association) syllabus and range from beginner to advanced level ballet with something for all levels and abilities.
